Virginia Foxx Endorses Hudson
Conservative Congresswoman Says He is Committed Conservative
February 14, 2012
Today, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, a conservative Member of Congress who represents North Carolina’s 5th District, endorsed Richard Hudson for Congress.
“I am pleased to announce my endorsement of Richard Hudson for Congress. Richard is a strong, committed conservative who worked with me in Washington to advance the conservative cause,” said Rep. Foxx. “The people of North Carolina can trust Richard to work hard every day to protect our freedoms and get our economy back on track.”
Foxx, considered one of the most conservative Members of Congress, is in her fourth term in the US House. National Journal magazine ranked Foxx the most conservative member of the North Carolina Congressional Delegation and more conservative than 91.3 percent of all House members. She was also one of just 38 Republicans to score a 100 percent approval rating from the American Conservative Union. Prior to her service on Capitol Hill, Foxx served 10 terms in the North Carolina Senate. Hudson served as Foxx’s Chief of Staff from 2004-2006. He was previously District Director to 8th District Congressman Robin Hayes.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of Congresswoman Virginia Foxx,” said Hudson. “She is someone I admire for her strong conservative record, tireless work ethic and commitment to her constituents.”
Hudson, recognized as the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in the 8th District, enjoys the most grassroots support and is the first candidate to organize all twelve counties in the district. Hudson also raised more money in the 4th Quarter of 2011 than any incumbent or challenger in North Carolina and raised $115,000 more than incumbent Larry Kissell—though Hudson entered the race two weeks into the quarter.
