Governor Jim Martin Endorses Hudson
Says Hudson is a “Conservative We Can Count On”
April 23, 2012
Today, Governor Jim Martin endorsed Richard Hudson, conservative Republican candidate for Congress in NC-08.
“Richard Hudson is a conservative we can count on,” said Governor Martin. “He has worked for decades to build the Republican Party in North Carolina. He will be an outstanding member of Congress.”
Governor Martin was the last Republican governor in North Carolina, serving two-terms from 1985-1993. His endorsement highlights Hudson’s continued momentum in North Carolina’s 8th District Republican primary. Martin joins other well-known North Carolina conservatives who have endorsed Hudson, including Mrs. Jesse Helms, Senator Lauch Faircloth and Senator James Broyhill.
“Governor Martin is someone I have admired since I was a young grassroots activist, and someone I have worked with on healthcare issues facing North Carolinians over the years,” said Hudson. “I am honored to have the endorsement of Governor Martin. His endorsement gives us tremendous momentum heading into the May 8th Primary.”
Hudson, recognized as the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in the 8th District, has been called “the strongest Republican to take on Kissell” by political prognosticator Stu Rothenberg.
