Statement on Today’s Supreme Court Ruling

Dear Friends –

I’m very disappointed in today’s Supreme Court decision, and it underscores the fact that the only way to get rid of Obamacare is by getting more conservatives in Congress who will repeal it. If Obamacare is not repealed, we will see over $525 billion in new taxes, fees and penalties from the federal government, and thousands of new IRS agents who are charged with making sure you buy the health insurance the government tells you to buy. Already, 77% of companies are considering dropping healthcare coverage for their employees because of Obamacare.

Obamacare will destroy our healthcare system, it will bankrupt the federal government and this decision today threatens our very liberty. When our federal government can force American citizens to purchase a commercial product under threat of an oppressive tax, all of our freedom is threatened.

Now more than ever, we need consistent conservative leaders who will stand up to Barack Obama’s liberal agenda. As your Congressman, I will fight to repeal Obamacare and replace it with meaningful, market based reforms.

This decision also highlights the reason why we must send a consistent conservative to Congress from the 8th District. In this primary election, my opponent has already shown that he will “go along to get along” with Obama’s liberal agenda when he voted to take millions of dollars in Obama’s stimulus funds while an Iredell County Commissioner. I have pledged that I will never support the stimulus programs, bailouts and giveaways in Washington. Unlike my opponent, you can count on me to stand up for our conservative values 100% of the time.

The Supreme Court’s decision also brings into focus Larry Kissell’s lack of leadership in the 8th District. Last year, Kissell voted AGAINST repealing Obamacare, and his silence on today’s ruling has been deafening. We need a representative in Congress who will stand up for our values, not a politician who tries to be on both sides of every issue.

If you send me to Washington, I’ll take a wrecking ball to Obama’s liberal agenda.
